The room was clean, comfortable, and featured excellent furniture and beautiful art that added so much charm. The architecture of the home was impressive and the landscaping as well. We stayed for two nights for a nearby antiquing excursion and our hosts and accommodations were absolutely excellent. Upon our arrival, we ordered a charcuterie board, which Edward made for us after we toured the house. We were able see Cynzia’s beautiful architectural design come to life. Our arrival snack was absolutely delicious and I loved that we could request add-ons like this to make our stay even more personal. Edward and Cynzia were both fantastic entertainers with food, stories, art and gardens that make The Gillen House the special place that it is. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests staying at the inn, so we were able to get to know our hosts by chatting at meals, then dining together on one occasion. It was so much fun to meet these two wonderful personalities after a few bustling days in the city. We really felt ourselves slow down and drink in the experience. Their warmth and hospitality made The Gillen House a truly memorable stay. The accommodations were quite comfortable and offered a truly luxurious experience. Edward and Cynzia were such a joy to meet and our ceremony was everything and more. I truly cannot thank our hosts enough for their warm presence. They made a huge impact on our day and left a memorable connection between our families. We had a more intimate, private ceremony that we set-up ourselves and Edward & Cynzia both did not hesitate to give us an extra hand. The ceremony in the barn and dinner on the front porch was stunning. The rain became a part of our day and my husband and I wouldn’t change a thing. We were surrounded by so much love, talent, support, & beauty that our stay here at the Gillen House has become one of our fondest memories. Edward & Cynzia are crazy talented and creative !! The house and grounds hold so much history that they both worked so hard to preserve yet tastefully elevate. I love their thrifts & art. The house is full of pieces they have collected and created themselves and you can find yourself lost in them. Such a serene & beautiful place. We hope to stay close and will be coming back here! Our room was just perfect and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. If you staying or passing near Athens, Ga, the Gillen House B&B is the place to stay! An immaculately restored 120 year old house is full of original art work and creations by the owners Edward and Cynzia. The house, rooms, and grounds are perfect for a relaxing enjoyable stay. Decorated by the incredibly talented owners, there are surprises and details in every room that keeps you looking. Breakfast and conversation adds to the experience. Highly recommended.
